About Digital Art

What program(s) do you work with?

I started working on Digital Art back in 2005. On that time I used to work with Adobe Photoshop 7 but currently I work with Adobe Photoshop CS5 and Wacom Intuos 4 (size L)

How did you acquired your skills?

I'm self-taught in Digital Art and Photomanipulation. I started by downloading many tutorials on deviantArt, other websites and magazines. I practiced very much everyday and soon I started to notice improvements. My skills improved a lot in time and, despite everything I already know, I still have much to learn. I guess I'm never happy and I challenge myself all the time; I'm always aiming to learn more and more; to evolve even more each day.

How can you describe your Digital Art work line?

My work is on photomanipulation. I work using real photographies and/or rendered elements. I put them all together; as much as necessary in order to achieve the final scenery I'm aiming for. In the end, I combine all the elements and finish it with digital painting so, the final result can achieve a painted, unified  and dreamy look.

Where does your inspiration come from?

I've always been a dreamer. Some friends of mine even say that I'm always apart in a secret world of my own. Most of my inspiration comes from those secret worlds, from my emotions/feelings and my soul. Music is a big inspiration as well; regarding other artists, I can say that Brom, Victoria Francés and Natalie Shau are maybe my biggest influences and inspiration.

Can you teach me your techniques?

I don't give private lessons and, I don't even have the time for it. Please don't send me notes asking me how I do this or that. I've created a tutorial account where, everytime I can, I upload tutorials revealing some of my techniques. If you want to learn, stay tunned and visit my tutorial account frequently. You can find the link up here in this Journal. Also, I have an online store which includes some more specific tutorials for sale. The link is on my Front Page.

How do you do those effects on your work?

Like I said before, I have a tutorial account where I share many of my Digital Art techniques. Please feel free to visit that gallery and look for the tutorial that better suits your needs. More tutorials will be added in the future and as fast as I can; it depends on my free time. The same information applies for my online store.

You have 2 stock accounts. Why you almost never use your own stock??

My own stock doesn't bring any surprises to me and, I always like new challenges. Therefore, I like to choose different stocks to use and create my artworks. Sometimes I use my own stock but I prefer not to do it. More recently I've started to use some of my stock, including using myself as the model but, I guess I still prefer different models.

What are your style biggest highlights?

Dark and romantic.... those words are the best to describe my style. Either low saturated or rich in colors, I always try to portray a dark and dreamy mood, always with dramatic romance... always from the depths of my soul and secret realms. As for keywords of my artwork details: long hair, horns on hair, little skulls, roses and thorns, dramatic faces, makeup, forests and fog.... Hmmm I guess I could go on forever...

About Photography

What camera do you use?

I used to work with a Sony DSC-H5. It was very good and I still keep it for some specific situations. Now I work with a Canon EOS 450D with a kit of 3 lenses, a Canon Speedlite flash and some other accessories such as filters, lenses adapters, reflectors etc.

Where did you learn your skills?

I still consider myself to be a newbie at photography. I'm very demanding with myself and I'm still not happy enough to consider myself an expert. It's a passion I re-discover it gain because of a friend of mine who gave me the strenght to start shooting photos once again. Everything I know is self-taught. I can count with some precious tips from some friends of mine and with the help of some tutorials I download. I still have much to explore and learn.

Do you edit your photos?

Yes, I make post-production on Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop. This post production includes: light adjustments, contrast, color balance and, sometimes I use pre-made Photoshop Actions because they give the most incredible effects on the photos.

What's your favourite category in photography?

I already experimented a bit of everything: landscape, nature, waterscape, macro, closeups, etc but I must say that definitely my favorite is people and portrait. I guess it's easy to notice that just by looking at my photography gallery. I'm planing on explore more and more (outside portraits, full body, etc) but for now I'm loving to work with portraiture.

About Graphic Design

Where did you learn your skills?

I got a degree in Graphic Design and since I managed to give my first steps, I've also started to learn even more with tutorials and self-taught experiments. In all areas I always try to evolve and learn more and more.

What softwares do you use?

I learned to work with Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, QuarkXpress, Corel Draw and Macromedia Freehand. More and more I've been noticing that Adobe is the most required global software and all the other softwares are getting obsolete so, I'm focusing my skills and learning abilities on Illustrator and InDesign.

Do you have a personal style?

I do love retro and Victorian style but generally all my clients dictate what they want. Every time possible, I try to guide them in the right direction, considering the target and the audience they're aiming  so, in the end, we can come to a final design that pleases both parts. Usually, minimalism works the best: Keeping it Simple and showing the message in an efficient way, in the end is what I try to do; as well as following the most efficient trends in design.
